I signed up for this testing, joined this list, downloaded and installed the zsync'd iso image of today and noted here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Testing/ProprietaryDrivers/WeeklyProgramThe install went well, but after reboot, some initial blue lines appear on the bottom but the graphic settle down to an unready fuzzy image in the middle. I cannot login to the system, graphically or on the text console.Alt-F1 and CTL_ALT-DELETE would not work. After Alt-F1 the mouse froze too. I have an Nvidia Geforce Go 7950 GTX (laptop)My Question: *how am I supposed to report such a bug, "ubuntu-bug" xorg presumes a bootable system.
I'm having similar issues with my macbook (model 5,1). It has an nvidia geforce 9400M. The nv video driver does not have support for it, so it falls back to vesa. Then, X aborts with "EnterVT failed". I'm currently trying to get a true backtrace and core dump out of X. You can find my bug report at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nv/+bug/519106. For more information on how to debug X issues you can look at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingXorg You can also boot into single user mode using the recovery mode boot line. From there you can do stuff and then launch X by running "start gdm". Thanks, Chase
