Message #00051
Week 1 image eated my home :(
Guys, I'm quite disappointed at moment.
As described in the instruction I made a new partition on my desktop resizing
the old root partition, I told the installer to use it like root and to reuse
the old home partition like home (I did it thousands times in the past).
I checked 3 times that "format" box where applied just to the new partition
and not to the home nor the old root.
Then it proposed me to migrate data from old installation, I said no to all
users it proposed me. At the end of installation an error window notified that
it can't migrate data from old account (WTH, I said no migration) and after
copying all files the installer crashed (and didn't install GRUB).
That's all. Now my old home directory it's completly empty and I want to cry.
Fortunatly I have backups but now I have to spend hours to restore my desktop.
And thanks god I decided to test it on my desktop (used for fun) instead
laptop (used for my job).
Just to let you know that shit happens and backups are very good things.
P.S.
this looks like and ugly bug on migration step. Someone with a completly spare
computer can try to reproduce it? Please don't ask me to reproduce it and
destroy my system again.
Ciao
