Message #00128
Crashing Interface...
2 Things today:
1. Yesterday i decided to check if the problem with the FGLRX driver had
been fixed yet so i could finaly test something.
When the live disk started i was greeted by a nice new user interface and
bootscreen, and the installer had been changed aswell.
However when i tried to use the installer to get Ubuntu on my test machine
(yes i do have a specific computer for this) the tool crashed and froze when
it started to load the partitioning tools.
Can anyone confirm this error and perhaps suggest a solution ?
2. I also have a very simple question for the admins in this mailing list:
Lately the performance of my ATI card on Ubuntu whent completely down the
drain.
I play Alien Arena and Sauerbraten aswell as World of Warcraft (using wine)
and the fps in these games was reduced to half of what it was before.
I used to have between 60 - 100 FPS in WOW and this is now this has been
recuded to between 25 to 45 FPS
Alien Arena has been hit hard aswell with a 60fps drop... luckely it had
200FPS to begin with so i have plenty performance left there.
I have a Club 3D Radeon 5770 overclocked edition card surely i should have
more performance under Ubuntu 9.10 ?
Will this performance loss be fixed in 10.04 ? or are these drops permanent
?
and does anyboddy else notice these drops aswell ?
Kind Regards
Dennis
