I haven't seen this issue before. Nevertheless it might already been resolved in one of the recent versions.
Assuming you are using v4.1.1 of Xpad, would you mind to give v4.2 a try?

V4.2 fixed some bugs and added some features.
V4.3 is in development, and based on GTK3.

If v4.2 does not resolve the issue, can you give v4.3 a try?
If that doesn't work, we have to dive into the code.

Can you give me the feedback while trying the different versions?
