[Question #251490]: xpad notes menu display is corrupted

New question #251490 on Xpad:
https://answers.launchpad.net/xpad/+question/251490

Hi--I'm loving using xpad, and hoping there's a quick fix to the following problem: I'm an infrequent Ubuntu user who recently switched over completely to Ubuntu, and installed Saucy, was offered and immediately upgraded to Trusty AND Cinnamon. I found xpad I think with my Trusty upgrade, and immediately began using it without a glitch; however, I developed a wallpaper display problem and fixed it by killing Nemo and starting up Nautilus with a little help from my friends. Now, I seem to have developed a problem with xpad: right-clicking on any note and proceeding to the Notes menu produces a completely garbled/corrupted display which does not allow me to select a previous Note, and I must have perhaps 50--so I have to click at the top of the menu and display ALL OF THEM and shut down the unwanted notes each time I need to retrieve just one. It has become an OLD procedure, and I hope this is a simple problem requiring a simple fix; but I don't want to delete or otherwise lose all my Old Notes.
Can I do this--and how?

"PostScript":
I tried performing all the Ubuntu/Cinnamon upgrades, I think, but note the current xpad v. 4.3, which I thought would've been done automatically with my other updates--I see I''m still at v. 4.2. Not sure what to do with the .tar download
Is the upgrade essential or a major improvement; or should it fix my problem? --and how do I do that with the .tar file?

Thanks

C
