No. interactionDetectionFactor is for (cohesive or non-cohesive)
contacts if that contact can be initiated over some predefined distance
bigger than the geometrical one.
On the other hand, cohesive contacts never break by virtue of distance
only. It is the constitutive law that takes care of that.

Distant links have (I think) no computation penalty unless you enable
them: haveDistantTransient in PersistentSAPCollider (which only means it
will not delete distant contacs) and by using
InteractinSphere2*4DistantSpheresContactGeometry at the same time.
Good that there is discussion about that, it needs to be clarified.
