Hi Jerome
1/ The mailing list is years old and have some inactive accounts, here
we can evaluate who is using yade in 2011.
2/ Ohloh is generating statistics for us (users AND contributors),
always better than tedious counting and maintaining a wiki pages like
"authors and contributors" or "who is doing what".
3/ The map gives a synthetic view of Yade community. Not just a funny
thing: it is really important to proove audience and help asking support
from universities or funding agencies.
Privacy: Your email adress will not be public, who asked a photo?
Anyway, I'm afraid big brother is watching you already:
I can check this page, https://www.ohloh.net/p/yade/contributors, 7th
contributor : jduriez, then I watch jduriez in launchpad:
https://launchpad.net/~jduriez, and I get your private emails and location
Actually, you can hide your email adresses in launchpad
(https://launchpad.net/~bruno-chareyre). I'll tell you how to do that if
you register at ohloh, deal? ;-)

Hello,
Sorry to ask the question, but, the map and the "funny" new widget
apart, what are the advantages of this ? (compared to statistics we
can already have with mailing lists)
Because, in my case for privacy reasons, I do not like so much putting
account/names/photo anywhere on the internet...
Jerome
