 In Yade (class :yref:`Clump`), clump members behave as stand-alone particles during simulation for purposes of collision detection and contact resolution, except that they have no contacts created among themselves within one clump. It is at the stage of motion integration that they are treated specially. Instead of integrating each of them separately, forces/torques on those particles $\vec{F}_i$, $\vec{T}_i$ are converted to forces/torques on the clump itself.
