Agreed, no need for this condition.
"revertSign" could also be removed now.
In fact the design seems loose to me. You ask for fabric tensor, you
trigger a bunch of weak/strong related things and even some silent
settings of GUI variables... Calculating the fabric tensor takes less
1/3 of the total work it seems.

What's the reason for fabricTensor() utils function to be designed
only for periodic simulations (according to the doc and the error
raised in aperiodic conditions:

?
I could not find any and was thinking to remove this condition
(keeping a test to disregard contact with boundaries ?), but
preferred to ask first.
