I forgot to mention, you have to be in the right directory.  So you have to be in yade/scripts,   where simple-scene.py is located.

Yes, it's great.  And Vaclav did that in a few minutes after my reply.  Just awesome.

Usually I start Yade by loading a script concurrently:
yade-trunk simple-scene.py

I do not know how to load a python script, after it has started.
