Re: Yade 0.50 and porting code

Hi Bruno,

All our developments in St-Nazaire are updated with respect to Yade 0.50. Thus that's fine for us.

Best,

Luc

Hi all,

As Yade 0.50 has been released, some of you might want to port some old code to this version. Considering that everybody will have to make more or less the same changes in their code, it would be intersting to know how many of you have this in mind. If the number is high, we can perhaps summarize the changes and point to the previous messages where Vaclav already explained how to update existing code.
If you are in this case, could you please say hello in reply to this email?

If you always used yade 0.2 or another old version, porting to 0.5 is also a good opportunity to go further and link your developments with "live" yade developments by updating(*) to the current trunk version and commiting your code. Doing so, it will be a lot easier for you to keep your code functional in the evolutionary Yade plateform, and a lot easier for us to help solving problems. That way, you will also contribute to the development of Yade itself.

Good luck!

Bruno

(*) You will probably not notice any difference for now between 0.5 and latest bazar versions since "0.5" is a snapshot of bazar version at a given time (revision number 2281). The only potential problems might come if you used high level wm3 function, as wm3 is supported in 0.5 but not in later versions. As an alternative for computational geometry, you can link your plugin to the CGAL library (http://www.cgal.org/), already used in Yade.
