I don't have that system installed, but Sega (IIRC) runs Yade on
OpenSUSE (which is also based on rpm packages),

BTW such people -- please, if you have some spare time, consider making
rpm-packaging effort for Yade. We could then upload it to OpenSUSE build
service and have it built for many distributions at once. Perhaps Remi?
Would you be interested in trying that?
