Re: [Question #234676]: Stress measures in Yade

Question #234676 on Yade changed:

Hi,

In case you didn't see it, there is a recent section of the user manual about this.
https://yade-dem.org/doc/user.html#micro-stress-and-micro-strain

Two things I would emphasis are:
- vtkExporter will help you to generate 3D maps of stress (if you don't already have your favorite postprocessing procedure)
- if you want a stress measure consistent with the macro-stress, you need to convert the stress given by bodyStressTensors() as explained in the link above, as bodyStressTensors() alone gives the mean stress in the solid phase.

Note that per-particle stress will probably be highly heterogeneous and
therefore difficult to interpret. You may need some kind of local
averaging to effectively "see" something.
