Hi,
I won't answer fully for your question, but at least concerning the use
of refPos (and refOri), I think this will not do what you want. These
variables, as far as I know, are only used to compute displacements (for
post-processing, or in the contact detection steps also). But it does
not correspond to the gravity center (the one that is moved according to
external forces, for example).
You should better think to modifying state.pos, then.
But in fact, I do not know if what you want to do is possible. At least
for stand alone spheres, one body is defined (for contact detection,
etc..) by its state.pos and its radius. It is not possible to decide
that the center of mass is somewhere else in this spherical volume, but
that we deal still with the same sphere...
