Hello,

For rock modelling, you might use the "JCFpm" model, see [1] and
associated "JCFpm" classes. Basically it is a bonded particle model,
similar to the one of Potyondy [2] that exists in ITASCA code (with some
significant differences, though).

Using this model, you might focus of elastic energy loss for local
interactions, as damage occurs throughout the model, if this is your
question. Note that for what concerns localized damage (crack
propagation) fracture toughness and associated surface energy are size
dependant in JCFpm model, as in Potyondy's one (see [2])
