Hi Liu​,

If you want to compare efficiency, the right way is to run complete DEM
simulation and compare the time with coupled method. But you don't need to
run all DEM simulation, just some first part and extrapolate the results
(the computational time per iteration usually does not change dramatically).

Tom compare some physical results, then it (if and how RVE is suitable)
depends on what you simulate and what should be the results :-) I think
here it should be the matter of scientific and engineering feeling..
