Since it is no more about modeling choice for grass, I would advice here
to open a new question on this specific topic, hoping for other answers
from more grid-skilled users than me.

In your new question, please refer specifically therein to
grids/CohesiveGridConnectionSphere.py from examples folder [*] if this
is what you're referring to (or chained-
cylinders/CohesiveCylinderSphere.py, but I doubt it is this one)
