Hello,

for a meaningful help, we will need a complete example [1]. E.g., you
are writing about "alloy spheres", but have polyhedral staff in
O.engines..

Concerning dissipation, you can try to set 
NewtonIntegrator(...,damping=0.0) # [2]
The value is betweeon 0.0 and 1.0 and controls numerical damping.
