My personal opinion on this is that the current version of Zim works quite
well and is more than adequate for older out of date distributions. Any
progress forward should take full advantage of the latest available tools. I
always try to stay as updated as possible with the programs that matter to
me, Zim included, and I have no problem installing newer libraries to make
those updates work.
