Can not comment on  KDE behavior, maybe someone else can confirm they see
the same ore not ?

In general I do not suspect any of the updates in zim should cause this, we
do noting fancy with window states etc. and we definitely didn't make any
changes to window states in recent versions.

Only thing I can think of is the trayicon messing up somehow, as that is the
only feature that interacts with the desktop framework other than drawing a
simple window - maybe try disabling that?
