Probable yes, but how much I can not tell you without testing.

The impact will be in the speed for loading the page in the editor
because more data has to be read and the downscaling has to be done on
the fly. Once the page is loaded there is no impact, because zim only
loads the downscaled image in memory.

But if you talk of 800 pixels versus 400 pixels I don't expect too
much difference. If anything the amount of images on the page could be
the issue. (If you would talk about full scale photos in high
resolution, downscaling on the fly may become a burden..)
