Brendan,

Editing the wiki pages on github work pretty much like a dokuwiki, no git
needed!  (Only uploading images is a bit more tricky.)

For expert usage you can indeed also check out the wiki as a repository and
edit it offline.

The obvious solution is to make zim support the github wiki - but that will
go on the long term wishlist I'm afraid...
