Re: [Bug 845259] Re: Cost for manufactured items

Sorry but I have to disagree. It should not obviously reflect it.
Manufacturing costing is a lot more complex than just adding a few costs
together from raw material and labour inputs. Maybe if you are just
assembling a few things it works, but normally you have to deal with machine
cycle hours / depreciation component, waste/yield, material tolerances,
labour cost vs efficiency, variable and fixed overheads cost vs efficency
balanced against predicted volumes. A normal manufacturing cost is standard
cost calculated periodically with differences in inputs/volumes and
efficiencies put to different variance accounts then allocated over COGS and
Inventory (sometimes expenses) and then used as inputs to the next planning
cycle. So what you end up with is either a FIFO standard cost, a serialised
product cost, or in essence an average of standard costs. So if using
average cost I would expect the average of standard costs. Now I wrote it
it sounds more complex than it really is - but the point remains you
generally don't just measure direct inputs and call that manufacturing cost.

Sadly neither works, but we got to a workable solution.

Title:
  Cost for manufactured items

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Based on 6.0.2 Anglo-Saxon

Manufactured product with costing method = average price. Made a
product - updated SOH but cost not updated.

Also, if a manufactured product is a combination of products and
services (ie the labour involved in manufacturing) I can see the task
being created but how is that time captured in the manufacturing order
(and should be included in costs updated)
