Re: [Bug 1008495] Re: Sound applet missing functionality
I think that mute has been added in Ubuntu 11.10
I know for sure that it was not present in the first versions of the
sound-indicator.
Do you have a "mute" entry in the menu of the panel ? and does it work ?
if you don't have, then it's just that the dock shouldn't add a "mute"
entry because the sound-indicator just can't mute.
"Double clicking on the applet with indicator sound removed still brings
up the ubuntu control center."
here again, maybe the Gnome control center didn't have a "sound" entry
available from the command line. which could explain why you only have
the main page and not the one related to sound.
Upgrading Ubuntu to 12.04 is maybe a good idea (since it's a LTS) ;-)
"is it possible to add an option to use the old sound applet?"
that's non sense, if sound-indicator is available, we use it,
otherwise we don't. The only difference is that the dialog on click is
replaced by a menu, but everything else is the same (provided the
sound-indicator works correctly of course ^_^)

Sound applet missing functionality

Bug description:
The sound applet is missing some functionality. Middle click does not
mute, nor does double clicking on the applet bring up the channels.
As a side note: is it possible to add an option to use the old sound
applet? Having the sound control integrated into the applet seems a
bit too much, at least for me. Having the option to keep it a simple a
volume control applet is very appealing.
Ubuntu 11.04 64bit
Cairodock v3.0.1
gnome2 with compiz
