Hi Matt,

It appears to be the same Compiz bug #1096455

Before

trakerjon@ubuntu:~$ wmctrl -d

  Cairo-Dock 3.1.2

  The docked desktop "Switcher" icon only displays 1 of 4 desktops until
  reset within CompizConfig Settings Manager. After logging off and back
  on the issue reoccurs. Seems to work fine with Ubuntu 12.04.1 has
  something changed with Ubuntu 12.10 and Cairo-Dock 3.1.2?
