Public bug reported:

The workaround for bug 1572026 [0] injects iptables commands into
autopkgtest test bed setup.

This is problematic because it leads to test failures for system tests
making use of nft [1][2][3][4].

Can the problem be solved in a different way so that the iptables
command injection can be removed?
