More data: when this happens, both the mouse cursor and small windows
can be dragged completely into both invisible areas: the one above the
top of the internal screen, and the blackened bottom-most half of the
internal screen.

Xinerama hints (extracted with a small PyGtk+ app using
gtk.gdk.screen_get_default().get_monitor_geometry(n)) look correct:

Monitor 0: 1280x800 at (0, 480)
Monitor 1: 1024x1280 at (1280, 0)
