Binary package hint: compiz

A couple weeks following the upgrade to Karmic (although I am not sure
it was the cause, as I had not tried this immediately prior to that), I
noticed that the plugins configured to be activated in the hot corners
stopped responding.  Now I see that they do repsond, provided the
corners are not masked by windows. This is not how the hot corners used
to work (they used to have precedence over the client areas). Is it
possible to revert to the old behavior?
