Message #16319
[Bug 775723] [NEW] Screen 1 does not work with compiz
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
This happens with Gnome Classic session.
I have no idea how Unity is supposed to support dual screen setup or how
it should be configured in case of dual screen.
~ $ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04
~ $ dpkg-query -W compiz
compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2
3) What I expect: dual screen setup works as in Maverick.
4) What happens: Compiz does not take over screen 1 on dual-head dual-
screen setup (a display with screens :0.0 and :0.1).
There are no window titles and no keyboard or mouse shortcuts work on
screen 1.
It is possible to launch metacity so that metacity takes over screen 1
and works nicely with compiz. However, following diagnostics is printed:
$ metacity
Window manager warning: Screen 0 on display ":0" already has a window manager; try using the --replace option to replace the current window manager.
I've tried to destroy my compiz settings (rm -rf .gconf/apps/compiz-1)
and log in again but it does not make any difference.
** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
