Public bug reported:

Upgraded to a new computer DellXPS 17 with Nvidia 555GM graphics from Dell Inspiron 9400 with Radeon x1300 graphics. Also upgraded distro from Ubuntu 11.04 Server to 11.10 Server. I have enabled the latest Nvidia drivers. After a compiz upgrade, none of the compiz shortcuts are working to place windows (top/bottom left, left, top/bottom right, etc...)  Reinstalled compiz and Unity but I still had no Unity shortcuts at all until I executed unity --reset in the shell. May be related to the new hardware configuration.
