Public bug reported:

I have had problems with video drivers since installing 12.04, shortly
after it had first been released. i HAVE finally gotten most of my
troubles resolved since Ubuntu's latest updates x-org drivers, cario
dock and some other assorted graphics related updates. However compiz
still crashes ever 30 mins or so, and closes all opened windows and all
icons on desktop disappear for about 5 seconds, then reappear along with
the windows.I then get a msg saying compiz has crashed and asking if i
want to relaunch it. Occasionally i lose the cairo dock completely and
have to log off then back on to fix it. Also, when i chose to log in
with cairo dock with no unity panel, the panel is there anyway. Lastly
sometimes the open windows reappear with their top edge under black bar
on the top of the screen and there is no way to close or re-size it.
