Re: Cuneiform 1.0 Ubuntu Packages

Well, that better explains the 'orphaned' status on LaunchPad. Like I said, I am new to Linux packaging. Is this status from a lack of interest in a Debian / Ubuntu package or a deeper technical reason? When you talk about maintenance of a package, can the maintenance responsibilities be broken down between the actual code and packaging responsibilities?

If cuneiform is compiled and installed and a package is created with the ImageMagick++ libraries present, what will happen if someone installs it on another computer without the libraries? Does it fall back to the standard behavior?

I have to slightly correct myself.

Cuneiform-linux 0.7 actually made it in Debian non-free (and might have
been pulled in by Ubuntu in multiverse), but has later been orphaned and
is no longer maintained.
