There is still the goal to remove Python2 from the desktop images, and
to use Python3 only. please build ibus using Python3 only.

plus ibus has a very strange dependency on python-notify, while it
otherwise only has dependencies on python3:

Depends: dconf-cli,
         gir1.2-gtk-3.0 (>=3.8.5),
         gir1.2-ibus-1.0 (= ${binary:Version}),
         adwaita-icon-theme,
         librsvg2-common,
         python-notify,
         python3-gi,
         ${misc:Depends},
         ${python3:Depends},
