Ubuntu Software Center won't let me install anything

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I went into the Ubuntu Software Center 3.0.4
to install Wine, but after clicking install it popped up with an error
saying package depedencies cannot be resolved. Basically, anything
other than Wine doesn't even have an install button.
