[Bug 1379630] [NEW] libgl1-mesa-dri in Ubuntu 14.04 causes Cinnamon to launch into software render mode

Public bug reported:

I tried both release and proposed versions of libgl1-mesa-dri
(10.1.3-0ubuntu0.1 and 10.1.3-0ubuntu0.2). They both produce the same
error as shown below:

$ LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo
name of display: :0
libGL: screen 0 does not appear to be DRI3 capable
libGL: screen 0 does not appear to be DRI2 capable
libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so
libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so
libGL: driver does not expose __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast(): /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast

The workaround, as referenced in the following link, is to downgrade libgl1-mesa-dri. I tried downgrading to 10.1.0-4ubuntu5 but it also didn't work.
