Hi!

I am thinking that the flush is the wrong way to go. It has some practical advantages, but I also discovered that when I ran the tests with --repeat that other things would pop as well. The transaction logs are showing dropped events so I suspect this is highlighting potential bugs there.

Let me take a quick crack at this this morning.
