[Bug 1217624] [NEW] Volume notification doesn't appear after Suspending

Public bug reported:

When I boot up Ubuntu 13.04 and Log In, if I use the keyboard shortcut
to adjust the volume (Fn + F10 or F11 or F12 for me), the notification
in the top right area of the screen will appear and display the volume
level as approopriate. But if I Suspend Ubuntu, when I wake it up again,
the volume notification will not appear when I adjust it using the
keyboard shortcut described above. Not only does the notification not
appear, but the volume does not even change.
