Reviewing the translations to other languages, I have found out
that applications such as the AppCenter are keeping the original
name when used in a German context while in other languages such as
French they are translated to "Applications Centre". For example,
in Spanish we were wondering if the menu launchers should be moved
from "Mail" to "Correo" or "Files" to "Archivos", taking into
account that other applications such as "Calculator" are keeping
their name as the English version instead of using the equivalent
in Spanish ("Calculadora"). Are there any official guidelines
regarding this?
To me, it seems obvious that an application whose name is just a
generic English word should have a generic translated name.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work there!
