I originally started with the code on googlecode too. I moved it to
github later on.
I use the googlecode SVN to host the maven repository, and the
googlecode downloads section for the manual binaries.
It works fine really. I'm not saying it's the way to go, but it works.
Github's wiki is probably good, the README thing should be limited to
an overview with links to the wiki. Github just seems to lack a way to
host binaries.
Maybe Sourceforge + Github is an option too.
Really it's just that Github is good for hosting the code really, it
seems to come up short on host a site though.
