My advice here would be simply to join the group. If the well-known
contributor or you are experienced in translations, getting into the
Launchpad Spanish translations team should be easy, and you would
benefit from the peer review from other community translators.

As I said, this is simply to improve translation quality assurance.
Right now, with Open permissions just about anyone with a Launchpad
account can go and change translations.

No, it is not related to Canonical. Launchpad Translators is a group for
community members interested in translating applications hosted in
Launchpad.
