There is also the <alt> + <sysrq> R E I S U B combo in Linux in cases
of lock ups like this:
Just <alt> + <sysrq>, both kept pressed down at the same time while
cycling through the R E I S U B keys. About 5 seconds between keys is
plenty or until the hard drive activity light goes out.
