But this still only gives the possibility to disable the nvidia card.. so still no go on using the Nvidia card I guess...

The alienware m11x r2 models have a different switching procedure: 

git clone http://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call.git 
cd acpi_call 
make 
sudo insmod acpi_call.ko 
./m11xr2.sh
