[Bug 1271681] Re: UPDATE REQUEST: php53u-pecl-ssh2 - 0.12 (EL6 only)
Hello Tommy,
Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. Currently, we do not
have any php*-pecl-ssh2 packages in the stable repos. Our php*-pecl-
ssh2 packages are in the development repos for both el5[0] and el6[1]
and thus are not considered stable or production ready (although some
might).
Historical we have avoided omitting a release for a module. We want to
try to be consistent. If a package is available for a release, then all
sub-packages and modules should also be available for that release. We
want to avoid a fragmented situation where modules a, b and c are
available for el5, but modules b, x and y are available for el6.
I made the choice to put the php*-pecl-ssh2 packages in the development
repos as a form of compromise since Mark did most of the work to make
the spec files. I do not like the idea of having a compromise on top of
another compromise.

Title:
UPDATE REQUEST: php53u-pecl-ssh2 - 0.12 (EL6 only)
Status in IUS Community Project:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
I have a customer that is requesting an updated pecl-ssh2 package because they need the capability to "chmod" files which was added in 0.12.
Please see: http://pecl.php.net/package/ssh2/0.12
ALL of the ssh2 releases are tagged as "beta" by the developer, so the
current "stable" version in IUS is also beta. In bug #1170131 Ben
cites a dependency issue with libssh2 on EL5 (EPEL 5 version of libss2
is too old), but the only place that php53u-pecl-ssh2 is released is
on EL6 anyhow.
<http://dl.iuscommunity.org/pub/ius/stable/CentOS/5/x86_64/repoview/development.languages.group.html>
... so this request is EL6 specific.
