[Bug 1201878] Re: intel video suspend/resume failed, black screen with mouse cursor

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.11 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
intel video suspend/resume failed, black screen with mouse cursor

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I use suspend/resume very often, and usually after many suspend
without reboot at the resume the screen remains black only the mouse
cursor is visible. The mouse cursor works fine, and actually I can
unlock the screen blind, but I don't see anything, only the mouse
cursor. Then I switch to one of the virtual terminals (CTRL-Alt-F1)
and back (Alt-F7) and it helps. but sometimes nothing helps, virtual
consols work fine, but I can't reach my X anymore. Then I see in the
  syslog the follow:

Jul 15 19:37:42 hostname kernel: [108899.493343] [drm:intel_cpt_verify_modeset] *ERROR* mode set failed: pipe 1 stuck
Jul 15 19:37:55 hostname kernel: [108911.890076] [drm:intel_cpt_verify_modeset] *ERROR* mode set failed: pipe 1 stuck

Jul 15 19:42:38 hostname kernel: [109193.930381] [drm:intel_cpt_verify_modeset] *ERROR* mode set failed: pipe 1 stuck

  I use Ubuntu 12.04 (precise), amd64
