[Bug 1203751] [NEW] ibm fan control broken and iwlwifi no longer accepts 11n_disable option
Public bug reported:
The 3.10.0-4-generic update broke a few things for me:
1) IBM thinkpad acpi fan-control no longer works:
$ sudo modprobe thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1
ERROR: could not insert 'thinkpad_acpi': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
$ dmesg|grep -i fan
[ 825.643012] thinkpad_acpi: Unknown parameter `fan_control'
Fan control is critical since bug 751689 has not yet been resolved (my
system overheats multiple times per week if not run with the fan
disengaged).
2) iwlwifi no longer accepts the 11n_disable option which causes wifi to
fail:
$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
$ dmesg|grep iwlwifi
[ 23.482221] iwlwifi: Unknown parameter `11n_disable'
Work-around is to remove that option so module continues to load.
3) Kvm seems to be upset about the nested option (although I don't know
where this is coming from):
$ dmesg|grep kvm
[ 25.788135] kvm_intel: Unknown parameter `nested'
[ 25.806223] kvm_intel: Unknown parameter `nested'
[ 25.821667] kvm_intel: Unknown parameter `nested'
