[Bug 1455870] [NEW] Suspend to RAM freeze when wawking up with linux image 3.19.0-16

Public bug reported:

Hi all,

I noticed with my laptop samsung r525 running a fresh install of kubuntu
15.04 that if I close the screen, the computer goes to suspend to RAM
but when I try to wake it up, the computer starts again but the screen
does not turn on. Nothing is displayed and the screen remains turned
off, including backlights (this is diferent from having backlights on
again a blackscreen displayed on screen).

I can reproduce the same behaviour by using the pm-suspend command from
shell, or clicking "suspend to ram" into the exit menu.

If I boot from the 3.19.0-15 kernel, everything works properly. I tried
another kernel picked up from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D following this wiki page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuilds
(respectfully the v4.1-rc3-unstable and v4.1-rc2-vivid and I got the
same problem each time.

What is going wrong ?

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Incomplete
