Message #120809
[Bug 1459058] [NEW] ELANtech touchpad simply will not work, no matter what I do.
Public bug reported:
You can read more about it here:

I'm not fully sure of the nature of my problem, but was recommended to
come here with this concern. I have a feeling that the issue is that
generic Ubuntu drivers do not provide full support for all ELANtech
touchpads. In searching various forums for help, it seemed to me as
though system76.com may have previously offered drivers that were
capable of fixing some slightly older ELANtech touchpads, but I do not
think these can still be downloaded. Furthermore, I think they may have
only fixed laptops just slightly older than mine.
The package I am using is most likely "xserver-xorg-input-synaptics".
I expected the cursor to move when I touched the touchpad, but instead,
nothing happens. I have successfully been able to use a USB mouse, but
it is a bit inconvenient to try and use everywhere, since I am a college
student and all of our desks are ridiculously small.
