Title:
iwlagn driver won't associate to a WPA2 network created with hostapd
Status in The Linux Kernel:
Invalid
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
On my home server (screwtape) running 10.04, I created a WPA2 network
with hostapd 0.7.3 and tried to connect to it from my laptop running
11.04. (I tried doing this with hostapd 0.6.10, which is the packaged
version on that host, but my laptop didn't even see it then.) My
laptop would almost never associate using its mini-PCI Intel Wi-Fi
Link 5100 adapter -- the Network Manager or Wicd icons would just
animate for awhile and then it would ask for the key, repeatedly. In
several dozen attempts I was able to associate successfully I think
three times. Trying to connect on other hosts like my wife's Windows
7 PC or my iPod touch was successful always. Trying it with other
hardware (an Atheros-based Belkin PC card and a Ralink-based MSI USB
stick) on the same laptop was successful as well.
In trying to get the Intel wireless card to work, I tried all of the
following variations on the HostAP network:
Wireless-G, WPA2, CCMP
Wireless-G, WPA, CCMP
Wireless-G, WPA, TKIP
Wireless-G, WEP
None were successful with the Intel hardware, all were successful with
other hardware.
+ Works using:
