So your hardware and problem may be tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

Bug description:
  Suspend seems to work, but after resume via power button, the laptop
  only shows the last display before suspend and is frozen.

  Only remedy is power down and restart.

  The laptop is in a docking station with an external monitor attached
  via DVI-D.
