I think Kicad needs to consider implementing a plugin system, similar to what is in Gnucap. The idea is that there is a minimal stable core that is maintained strictly, and whatever possible is moved out to plugins. It is based on standard shared-object modules and C++ derived classes. Then, anyone can share anything as a plugin, without impacting the main program for those who don't want to use it. If there is interest, I will gladly explain how it works and provide guidance to implement it.
There is *hightly* interesting. So some guidance and advices about this are welcomed. -- Jean-Pierre CHARRAS Maître de conférences Directeur d'études 2ieme année.
